The State of New York has plans in the works to introduce newer, cleaner technologies by 2035. The first phase will include banning older car engines in hopes to improve air quality.

New York has a less aggressive plan than Washington. Washington wants to phase out sales of ICE vehicles by 2030.

It’s not realistic for new York state to phase out the ZEV requirement. In order to achieve their 20% target by the start of 2026, they would need a nearly double-digit growth every year between now and then.

his is worth noting because many automakers are forecasting less than a 30% increase in electric vehicle sales by 2030.
